What is Allergen Immunotherapy?
Allergen immunotherapy is a form of long-term treatment that decreases, and in some cases eliminates symptoms for many people with allergic rhinitis, allergic asthma, conjunctivitis (eye allergy) or stinging insect allergy.
How does it work?
Allergen Immunotherapy works like a vaccine. Your body responds to injected amounts of a particular allergen, given in gradually increasing doses, by developing immunity or tolerance to the allergen.
For patients who suffer from severe seasonal allergies, Allergen Immunotherapy can be a long-term and cost-efficient way to control or completely eliminate seasonal allergy symptoms.
This makes it a cost-effective, beneficial treatment approach for many people, and is covered by Medicaid, Medicare and most major insurance providers
What does Associated Physicians Group provide?
Associated Physicians Group is a licensed provider of Allergen Immunotherapy. Our program consists of an initial consultation, a 30 minute allergy test to determine the exact allergen(s) to be treated, and then implementation of the course of treatment.
- Feel Better, boost your energy
- Miss fewer days of work or school due to debilitating allergy symptoms
- Reduce or eliminate expensive allergy medicines that only mask your symptoms
APG Allergen Immunotherapy Program
Step 1: Testing
A non-invasive, 30-minute test performed in our office will identify the source of your allergies. Each patient is tested for the most frequent, geographically-specific seasonal and environmental allergies found in the region.
Step 2: Treatment
Immunotherapy treatment introduces increasing amounts of specific allergens over several months. A customized immunotherapy serum is blended for each patient and administered via a quick, pain free injection. Most patients opt to administer these simple injections at home with ongoing supervision from our medical team.
Step 3: Relief from Allergy Symptoms!
Immunotherapy is a proven treatment that can decrease or eliminate the symptoms of your allergies. Up to 85 % of patients report a complete cure or noticeable reduction in allergy symptoms after one year of treatment.
All testing is done in our Alton Illinois office, while some treatments can be administered at home. We work with you to ensure the process is seamless and convenient. For more information, call our Alton Office at (618) 509-4866, ask a member of the APG staff, or contact us online.
