Board Certified Pain Management Anesthesiologist, Medical Director

Dr. William Thom is a Board Certified Anesthesiologist with fellowship training in Pain Management.  A Millstadt and Belleville, IL, native, he graduated from Bradley University's Honors program summa cum laude in 1997. He attended medical school at Saint Louis University where he graduated with honors in 2001, and trained as an Anesthesiologist at Barnes Jewish Hospital (Washington University) in St. Louis, MO.  Following his residency training in 2005, he completed an intensive fellowship program in Pain Management at the renowned Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.

Dr. Thom was Medical Director of the Outpatient Pain Management Clinic at St. Luke's Hospital (Chesterfield, MO) from 2006-2008 and is currently the Chief Medical Officer and Director of Pain Management at APG, with clinics in O'Fallon, Edwardsville and Swansea, IL.  Dr. Thom's primary areas of interest are interventional and pharmacologic pain management,  physical rehabilitation and the multimodal care of the chronic pain patient.

Dr. Thom offers a wide range of interventional techniques to treat pain, including steroid injections, nerve blocks, medication management, radiofrequency ablation, spinal cord stimulation, intrathecal pain pumps, vertebroplasty, platelet-rich plasma injections, viscosupplementation,  bracing and more.  His clinics serve as Centers of Excellence for novel new treatment programs such as the Qutenza Patch (post-herpetic neuralgia) and the Bionicare Knee system (osteoarthritis of the knee), and are the only clinics in the area with certification through the Osteoarthritis Centers of America.  Dr. Thom currently serves on the Expert Speaker Panel for Neurogesx, originator of the Qutenza Patch.
