Beat the Winter Blues

SunshineMany people find themselves feeling a little blah or sad during the long cold days of winter. While the term “winter blues” is not a clinical diagnosis, cold weather and shorter days can often leave people with low energy, weight gain and feelings of sadness. Here are some tips to make you feel better:

  • Eat a healthy, balanced diet
  • Avoid alcohol—alcohol is a depressant
  • Exercise
  • Try to spend a little time in the sun
  • Try to maintain a routine sleep schedule
  • Schedule time with other people

If you have been feeling a little “off” this winter, you might want to schedule an appointment with one of our primary care providers. They can give you a thorough medical evaluation to determine if there are any underlying health problems contributing to your winter blues. They can also work with you to identify some lifestyle changes that might elevate your mood and make you feel more energetic. To schedule an appointment call
